What obaseki told ize iyamu after he was declared winner

Godwin Obaseki has called on his opponent Ize-Iyamu to join hands with him to move the state forward. The PDP governorship candidate in the just concluded election called on the APC candidate Ize-Iyamu to join hands with him to build the state as his victory against him for the second time clearly shows the choice of the people of Edo state. Recall that governor Obaseki defeated his opponent Ize-Iyamu in 2016 under the APC platform. Governor Obaseki was declared winner of the just concluded election by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC after he won the poll with 307,955 votes against his APC opponent who had 223,619 votes.

In an interview with BBC after he was declared the winner of the September 19 poll, he expressed his gratitude to the people of Edo state and called on his opponent to join hands with him to move the state forward. Bellow were his words. " We have contested before, we still contest again, and if you see the result in 2016 and 2020, you will truly know what people want. " We are brothers and we come from the same place. Why are we even contesting? is it not to serve people?.
