PDP STILL STANDS FIRM!!!

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Ahmed Makarfi has said that it had no hands in the bid for the registration of another party called Advanced Peoples Democratic Party (APDP). Its spokesman, Dayo Adeyeye, said yesterday that the National Caretaker Committee of the PDP wishes to deny in its entirety, the news item, which went viral last Thursday that the committee or any of its members as individuals, are leading a plan to abandon the party structure for the Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff led group and seek registration of a new party to be called Advanced Peoples Democratic Party (APDP). According to Adeyeye, “We state clearly and without ambiguity that the National Caretaker Committee of the PDP is not in anyway involved in the plans to register any party by the name APDP or any other party for that matter.” The faction said, “It is unthinkable that the National Caretaker Committee, which without any doubt, enjoys the support of all the recognised organs of the party will contemplate such a move. In a related development, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) yesterday dismissed reports that disgruntled members of the PDP formed the new party. Reacting to a newspaper report that described them as disgruntled, the Assistant National Secretary South South zone of the ADP, Tony Okonji told The Guardian yesterday that members of the new party were patriotic Nigerians, who believed the PDP has not fared well in running the affairs of the country when it was in power and has left to team up with their like minds from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and others to form the new party. The Edo State chapter of the ADP was launched last Thursday in Benin City where the leader of the party, former Senate Chief Whip Roland Owie said the party would adopt an all-inclusive process of picking candidates for elections through direct primaries. Meanwhile, former governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada has said those bent on ensuring PDP is annihilated do not mean well for the country’s democracy. Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja at the weekend, Wada noted that the party had come to stay in the country.***prbxselfnetwork***
