3 POLICEMEN GUNNED DOWN IN IGANDO MILITANTS ATTACK

The police were locked in a gun battle with militants in Igando, a suburb of Lagos on Tuesday. Reports say the militants stormed the area around  4am, looting shops and shooting into the air. The shootout, which reportedly left three policemen injured, has caused residents of Igando, especially those around Ikejobi Avenue, Ewedogbon Bus Stop to flee their homes or hide indoors. The militants, suspected to be Ijaws had crept in to Lagos and Ogun States wreaking havoc on residents in the last three months. They have killed hundreds of people in their attacks on Ikorodu, Ibafo and now Igando in the last few months. With the killing of three policmen on Tuesday, there are indications that the militants are gaining more ground spreading towards the Lagos city.
