YOU have many ways to do this,but you will probably use a modem--a device that enables your computer to talk to other computers and maybe a phone line...you might have other connection possibilities,such as your local cable company or your company network.....

WHO OWNS THE INTERNET???

NOONE owns the INTERNET.Even though you pay an Internet service provider (ISP) to access the INTERNET,that doesn't mean the ISP owns the INTERNET.noone does..what you have to pay for is for the use of their computers,modems,and other expensive hardware to access the INTERNET..
YOU AREN'T REALLY PAYING FOR THE INTERNET...
YOU ARE PAYING SOMEONE TO PROVIDE A CONNECTION TO IT™™
