I lied.. to her;now i need her forgiveness...

Since I confessed the truth to her, things between us changed for the negative.I have been having issues with someone I really care about. To be honest, I was the cause of everything that happened between us. This lady cared for everything about me but I kept up a lie for a long time. To get her attention when we just met, I lied about having a sister who bears her name. When we became so close and she kept asking to meet that sister of mine, I had to just tell her about the lie I told because I could no longer keep up the lie. And since I confessed the truth to her, things between us changed for the negative. She claims to have forgotten me she had already forgiven me but sometimes she acts strange and even aggressively. I’ve had to adapt with the situation but things are no longer as they once were. She’s moodier now and treats me like a stranger. She doesn't call me as she used to and when I do, she ends the calls abruptly. She claims to be busy whenever I ask to see her or take her on a date. I actually considered overdosing on drugs because I broke her heart. All the gifts I got her have now made the situation better, only seemingly worse. I know it’s my fault but please help me on what to do. __________________ Dear reader, There aren’t two ways to this thing – you just have to change, keep apologizing and hope she gives you a second chance. Only she has the discretion to forgive and actually take you back. Of course, she could forgive and just move on. Since you know her better, I suggest you know the things she likes most and don’t stop doing them. Give her some space to gather her thought and reevaluate her stance – whether she wants to be with you or not – but make sure you do not completely disappear from the picture. At some point she’s either going to take you back or make it clear that she’s never coming back to you You still have to give it a shot though. And about considering suicide, I think that’s being overreactive. You took an unwise step and the mistake is being punished already. No need to take your life. Nothing is ever that serious. Please just stay alive and get your babe back. ___________________ Do you want to talk about your love life, marriage or family issues? Theresa may tells EU citizens they 'will be able to stay after brexit'

The prime minister has written an open letter in which she pledges that all EU citizens living lawfully in the UK will be allowed to stay post-Brexit. Theresa May has written an open letter to EU citizens living in the UK in an attempt to reassure them about their post-Brexit status. The prime minister said: "EU citizens living lawfully in the UK today will be able to stay." The intervention comes ahead of the European Council meeting in Brussels, where they will vote on Brexit progress. Nicolas Hatton, the co-founder of the3million EU citizens' rights groups says "we are barely out of the starting blocks" over an agreement. LONDON — Theresa May has sent an email directly to 100,000 EU citizens' living in the UK in an attempt to reassure them that they will be allowed to remain after Brexit, saying the government would not use them as "bargaining chips" in negotiations. The prime minister has sent the open letter as Brexit negotiations have hit "deadlock." She writes: "I couldn’t be clearer: EU citizens living lawfully in the UK today will be able to stay." In the letter, May promises that there will be "streamlined" and low-cost method for EU citizens to apply for "settled status" after Brexit and that the government will remove the requirement to "demonstrate Comprehensive Sickness Insurance." The intervention comes as the prime minister heads to Brussels for the European Council, which will decide whether "sufficient progress" has been made in Brexit talks on citizens' rights, Ireland and the financial settlement in order to allow negotiations to move onto the next phase. The timing of the message suggests that as well as an attempt to reassure EU citizens, the prime minister's words are aimed at European leaders, who will vote on the progress of the negotiations. May said: "I have been clear throughout this process that citizens’ rights are my first priority, and I know my fellow leaders have the same objective: to safeguard the rights of EU nationals living in the UK and UK nationals living in the EU," and claimed that the EU and UK are "in touching distance of agreement." Nicolas Hatton, the co-founder of the3million pressure group disagreed that we are within "touching distance," saying: "we are barely out of the starting blocks." Hatton said: "For the past year, we have been unsuccessfully tried to meet with David Davis and Theresa May. We have also made detailed objections to the proposed ‘settled status’ which have been read but seem to have been comprehensively ignored." The message was sent out to those who have signed up to Home Office updates and was also later posted on May's Facebook page. The prime minister announced she would be setting up a new "User Group" made up of EU citizens that will give them a say over the "settled status" process. May wrote: "We want people to stay and we want families to stay together. We hugely value the contributions that EU nationals make to the economic, social and cultural fabric of the UK. And I know that Member States value equally UK nationals living in their communities. "I hope that these reassurances, alongside those made by both the UK and the European Commission last week, will provide further helpful certainty to the four million people who were understandably anxious about what Brexit would mean for their futures." In a response to the message, Labour's shadow home secretary Diane Abbott said that it was a "sign of panic by the Tories," in a Guardian column. Abbott said: "Any reassurance to EU citizens is welcome and must of course apply to UK citizens in Europe, but these are rights that affect us all and millions of people will want reassurance that what is on offer is a genuine guarantee of full rights as they currently exist, including the right to a family life. "The Tories have been intransigent on this. No half-measures will be acceptable and some joint court of appeal will be necessary. Without these, EU citizens here and UK citizens in Europe may well vote with their feet and we will all be worse off." ***prbxselfnetwork***

My boss raped me

My name is Rose, a 24-year-old lady working as a housemaid for a family living in the Lekki area of Lagos State. I have been with the family for about two years now but as I write this, I am in tears because of what I have neem going through in the hands of my master who has turned me into his sex slave. I am an orphan and since I was 16-years-old, I have been struggling to fend for myself and my younger ones. I was brought from my hometown in the South-South to Lagos by an aunt who has been using me as her meal ticket. Instead of my aunt who had promised to either send me to school or make me learn a trade to fulfill her promises, she has been giving me out as a maid to different families while she collected my salaries with the promise of helping me save them.  I got this new job after I was sent packing by my former employers who accused me of bringing thieves to rob their home. God knows I was innocent of the accusation but they would not listen to my explanations. They got me arrested, locked me up, charged me to a court and I was remanded in prison custody for three weeks before I was granted bail when the judge found out I was framed up. When I got to this new household, they were so nice to me especially my madam who treated me as her relative. For the first time in my life, I found love as the woman made sure she bought me clothes, gave me money to make my hair, buy makeup and I even had an air conditioner and cable TV in my room. But my problem started when my oga decided to take me more than a maid but his sex machine. I had stayed with the family for about six months when he came to my room one night after his wife had traveled. It was around 11 pm when he knocked on the door and when I opened, thinking there was something he wanted me to do for him, he pushed me into the room. He had only a boxer short and reeked of alcohol. He turned, locked the door and promptly removed his boxer, bringing out his erect penis. I tried to scream and asked him what he was doing but he told me that if I made a noise, he would kill me and no one would ask him. I was trembling in fear and resorted to begging him but he gave me a slap across my face which almost blinded me and threw me to the floor. That night, my boss raped me two times before leaving. I was left in pains and cried till daybreak. In the morning, he came to me and told me he was sorry and that he was drunk when he raped me. He saw that I had packed my things and wanted to leave but he begged me to stay as his wife would leave him if she found out. After begging me and promising it would not happen again, he gave me some money and knowing that my aunt would not think twice before sending me out of her house if I went back, I decided to stay back, hoping he would keep his promise. But two weeks later, the same thing happened again and since then, he has been raping me violently and all the time vowing to kill me if I ever reported to anyone or leave his house. I found out two months ago that I was pregnant and when I told him, he screamed at me and said I wanted to plant a bastard on him. He said he was going to give me money to go for an abortion but when I refused and threatened that I would tell his wife but he said he would kill me if I ever tried such. My madam has been out of town for some months now and is due back in two weeks and I know she would surely find out that I am pregnant. I don't know what to do right now and I feel like ending it all. I am so confused. Please, I need advice from readers. Rose." Dear readers, this is another pathetic story of man's inhumanity to another. Rose is in a serious dilemma and needs advice so on Morning Teaser today, we want you to tell her what she should do.***prbxselfnetwork***

A few times nigerian celebrities who have settled beef

We take a look at five times celebrities have settled their beefs. Celebrities in Nigeria are known for being friends with each other, even though sometimes they step on each other's toes thereby leading to one beef to another. We take a look at five times celebrities have settled their beefs. 1. Wizkid and Linda Ikeji   The feud between Wizkid and Linda Ikeji was one of the most reported stories back in 2016. It all started when blogger, Linda Ikeji wrote a story about Wizkid getting an eviction letter from his landlord for unpaid rents. Wizkid who didn't take it likely took to his Twitter page where he called Linda Ikeji some unprintable names. It got really messy that the matter had to be resolved at the office of the Lagos state commissioner of police. Both parties agreed to end the rift and move on even though Linda Ikeji refused to a "Kiss and makeup" picture with Wizkid at the commissioner's office. 2. Wizkid and Tekno Wizkid was probably minding his business when Tekno decided to cause some drama. It all started when a Twitter fan regarded to Tekno as an up-and-coming artist compared to Wizkid and Davido. Tekno then tweeted "Na just Time, soon we go know who international pass." This, however, looked like shade towards Wizkid. Wizkid then took to his twitter page where he called Tekno "Duck face." Just when we thought this was going to be a long feud, the duo were later seen at a club, partying together thereby ending speculations that they still had a beef. 3. Don Jazzy and Olamide   This was probably the biggest celebrity beef of 2016. It all started at the Headies Award where Don Jazzy's artist, Reekado Banks was given the highly coveted Next Rated Award. Well, Olamide felt slighted because he was hoping that his artist at the time, Lil Kesh deserved the award. He made his grievance known while collecting his own award. Don Jazzy who felt slighted by Olamide's rant, got to the podium and asked Olamide to come and take the price for the coveted award which was a car if he felt slighted. Olamide who got furious, took to his Twitter page where he called out Don Jazzy. It was reported that billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote waded in and settled the fight. 4.Wizkid and Dammy Krane   Wizkid appears to be the one with the highest beef on this list. This time the Starboy had a rift with the artist, Dammy Krane. Dammy Krane was first to take to his Instagram page to accuse Wizkid of stealing and using his ‘gbetiti’ slang in the remake of Kiss Daniel’s "Good time." Dammy Krane bragged about how he was going to beat up Wizkid, based on the fact that he owned the streets. Wizkid did not reply online; he waited until he saw Krane at Quilox night club, and broke his jaw with a glass cup. However, the feud between these guys was resolved by the immediate intervention of Shina Peller, the Quilox boss and Nigerian footballer, Obafemi Martins who waded in and they settled the issue. 5. Davido and MC Galaxy   The rift between Davido and MC Galaxy wasn't as loud as the other celebrity beefs we have seen. It was reported that while at Davido's residence, MC Galaxy had said some provocative things towards Davido and his crew which led to MC Galaxy being given a thorough beating. It's yet unknown how these guys resolved their differences but while granting an interview, MC Galaxy spoke about their feud “Davido is my boy and I cannot fight him. We are friends and friends have issues once in a while and move on afterward. We cannot fight each other and our relationship is still tight,” he said. ***prbxselfnetwork***

ICC probing several war crimes

ICC said on Wednesday it was investigating several potential war crimes including murder in Mali, months after finding an ex-jihadist guilty liable for millions worth of damage in the landlocked country. The International Criminal Court said on Wednesday it was investigating several potential war crimes including murder in Mali, months after finding an ex-jihadist guilty liable for millions worth of damage in the landlocked country. "Our investigations are continuing (into) other crimes... sexual crimes and crimes against peacekeepers, killings and all those," ICC chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda told reporters in Bamako. The Hague-based tribunal said in August that ex-jihadist Ahmad al-Faqi al-Mahdi caused 2.7 million euros worth of damage when he destroyed several fabled shrines in Timbuktu, in northern Mali, during the jihadist takeover there in 2012. The judges further ordered that the Malian state as well as the international community be compensated with a symbolic amount of one euro for the damages suffered. Al-Mahdi was jailed for nine years in 2016 after he pleaded guilty to directing attacks on the UNESCO world heritage site and apologised to the Timbuktu community. It was a landmark case for the ICC as it was the first time a jihadist had pleaded guilty to a war crimes charge. Bensouda said the court was expanding its investigation in Mali, which is home to a 13,000-strong UN peacekeeping mission. "I am not in position to talk about what else is being done regards to Al-Mahdi proper but all I can tell you the court is looking at other crimes within the context of our investigations in Mali," she said.***prbxselfnetwork***

Bank of england spent £3,000 promoting the new £10 on SNAPCHAT

Last month, to promote the release of the new £10 note — supposedly the most technologically advanced banknote in UK history — the Bank of England bought a Snapchat filter which appeared for users of the app in seven major UK cities. In response to a Freedom of Information Act request from Business Insider, the Bank of England confirmed that it had spent £2,819.28 (excluding VAT) on the filter across the seven cities — London, Bath, Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds, Manchester, and Winchester. The amount spent by the bank varied greatly by location, with the filter costing £1,621 in London, and just £21.66 in Leeds. In London the filter was available in the area around London Bridge station, and Piccadilly Circus, while in Leeds it could be used in the city centre in streets around the bank's cash centre. "Given the price per square [sic] feet of running a geofilter is different in every location in the UK, the amount spent on each city does not reflect the size of the area where the geofilter was available," the Bank of England said in response to Business Insider's FoIA request. A full breakdown of the amount spent (in descending order) can be seen below: London — £1,621.14 Birmingham — £459.86 Manchester — £297.22 Cardiff — £203.50 Bath — £161.22 Winchester — £54.68 Leeds — £21.66 The filter was used as a promotional tool, alongside a widespread social media campaign, more traditional advertising, and a series of press adverts — by the bank's Chief Cashier Victoria Cleland. It was widely advertised on the bank's social media channels, with a tweet showing Governor Mark Carney photographed with the filter put out by the official Bank of England Twitter account. In recent years, the Bank of England has made a serious effort to try and modernise its communications with the British public and try to educate people on the role it plays within society. That includes animated videos explaining its key policy tools, road trips around the UK by senior policymakers, and an increased presence on platforms like Snapchat, Twitter and Facebook. Snapchat first introduced sponsored geofilters for general purchase back in 2016, with users able to pay for filters through Snapchat's own self-service tool. Earlier this year, Snap expanded this business area so that its ad partners in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada could sell and manage sponsored geofilters themselves. ***prbxselfnetwork***

US police arrest suspect suspect in double shooting that killed three

Police arrested a man suspected of killing three people and wounding two on Wednesday at a Maryland business park before shooting another person in neighboring Delaware. Police arrested a man suspected of killing three people and wounding two on Wednesday at a Maryland business park before shooting another person in neighboring Delaware. Radee Prince, 37, was caught as he fled on foot in Delaware after a manhunt that saw local Maryland schools in lockdown and the nearby set of Netflix drama House of Cards reportedly sealed off. Police said the latest mass shooting to hit the United States was a "targeted attack". "At 7:05 pm (2305 GMT), a suspect was taken into police custody after a brief foot chase," Wilmington, Delaware Police Chief Robert Tracy told a televised news conference. Prince discarded a .380 caliber firearm during the chase -- the same caliber used in the shootings, though ballistics testing still needs to be done to conclusively determine if it is the same weapon, Tracy said. The police chief had earlier told reporters that Prince was "a dangerous individual. This person shot six people in one day," in attacks that were not random. Prince was sought "in connection with both a multiple shooting incident early this morning in Edgewood, Maryland and another shooting incident at mid-morning today" in Wilmington, a statement from police said. Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said three people died in the first incident at a granite business just before 9:00 am (1300 GMT). He confirmed a handgun was used and two other victims were transported to trauma centers in serious condition. Gahler said Prince was associated with the company, Advanced Granite Solutions, where the first shooting occurred, near Baltimore. Latest mass shooting "This does appear to be a targeted attack, limited to that business," he said. Police were investigating Prince's connection with the firm, where all five victims of the first shooting were employed, Gahler said. He said other people besides the five victims were on the premises when the shooting took place. Tracy said the victim in the second shooting identified the gunman. "They're known to each other and they've had some past history," he told a news conference. The suspect fled the first attack in a car registered in Delaware, Gahler said. Variety magazine reported that the set of "House of Cards," which is partly filmed in Maryland, was placed on lockdown while police searched for the shooter. The executive producer of the series, Dana Brunetti, said on Facebook: "Shooting near House of Cards set." Several schools in Maryland were also placed on lockdown while the shooter was still at large, officials said. The incident was the latest mass shooting in a country where such killings have become tragically commonplace. On October 1, a gunman in a 32nd-floor casino hotel room rained fire down on concert-goers in Las Vegas, killing 58 and wounding more than 500. It was the deadliest shooting in recent US history. The Las Vegas shooting sparked efforts to ban "bump stocks," a device that allowed the firing of a semi-automatic rifle close to the rate of a fully automatic weapon. But broader gun control measures remain staunchly opposed by Republicans, with the backing of the powerful National Rifle Association lobby.***prbxselfnetwork***

I'm tired of feeding my husband,i want divorce--lagos woman tells court

An Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos State has dissolved the one-year-old marriage between Ismail Kareem and Sofiat, his wife, over the former’s alleged irresponsibility. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the court president, Mrs. Funmi Adeola, in her ruling, ordered the couple to go their separate ways since efforts to reconcile them proved abortive. Adeola, however, ruled that their one-year-old child must be properly taken care of by both parties. The fact that you are separated does not mean that the fruit of the marriage should suffer. “The child’s education, feeding, medical allowance must not be affected; henceforth, the father must pay the sum of N10, 000 monthly for the child’s feeding. “Both parents should be responsible for the child; the father has been granted visitation right to his child at any reasonable time of the day. “Custody of the child has been granted to the mother because she still needs motherly care, she said. The 28-year-old petitioner had, on August 16, alleged that the husband was responsible and had refused to cater for his family. Sofiat claimed that she had borne the entire burden of feeding the family. ***prbxselfnetwork***

How pastor adeboye saved me from spiritual attack on my private jet

Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide (LFCWW), David Oyedepo, has revealed how he almost died in a plane crash recently. Speaking at the church headquarters on Friday, Oyedepo says before the trip, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A Adeboye visited him unannounced and prayed for him. It was the third time Bishop Oyedepo would be involved in near air mishap. Narrating how this third and most recent accident happened, a pastor in the church, Adebisi, read the report from the aircraft’s pilot, Captain Samuel Adegoga. “The main malfunction we had in the Cyprus-Israel flight was a stabilizer twin-motor failure. During the said flight that we had the twin motor failure, the auto-pilot could no longer exert the desired pressure to keep the aircraft in the required altitude for stability flight. “The captain disconnected the auto-pilot, took and returned the aircraft to the required altitude for that phase of the flight. Because the aircraft was out of trim during this takeover, the aircraft abruptly pitched off with much pitch force. “The captain counteracted it with a pitch down force. These counter forces caused turbulence and movement in the cabin and cargo hold. Heavy items in the cargo section fell from their compartment, making a loud noise, ” the pilot wrote. “We thank the God of this commission for making the pilot to react promptly. Similar failures in the past have resulted in fatal accidents due to lateness of pilot’s reaction,” Adebisi added. However, while the pilot saw the incident as mechanical malfunctioning, Bishop Oyedepo said the averted air disaster was a spiritual attack. His words: “According to the word of God, before the great and dreadful day of the Lord will hit the earth, there will be a restoration of sonship and fatherhood to the body of Christ. “On Friday preceding the journey that we made, my father in the Lord showed up at 6:30 early in the morning and saw a vision and wasn’t sleeping, and said, ‘Lord, Lord, why seek the living among the dead? No, no…’ So, he took off and landed here before 6:30am. No, there was no idea that he was coming, and there was no discussion after it. The heart of the father will be drawn to the heart of the son to defend. “Understand what I’m saying. You don’t have inheritance in a pastor; you don’t have in a teacher. Many of us have teachers all our lives. Did they share anything with you when they died? Did any teacher write your name in his will? You only have an inheritance with a father. A good man leaves an inheritance for his children to inherit. Fatherhood is not an accolade, it is a revelation. So, that was not technical failure, it was a spiritual attack that Jesus averted. “Every prophet sent to you is ordained a father. Elisha shouted: ‘My father! My father!‘ He was the son of Sherphat. Elijah was not his biological father, but he was a prophet sent to him…Every prophet sent to you is sent as a father, not as brother, not as an uncle, not as a friend. I have enjoyed this kind of covering all my life.” ***prbxselfnetwork***

In india,7 die in firework factory blast

An explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in eastern India killed seven workers and injured nine others in the hours before Thursday's Diwali festival, officials said. An explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in eastern India killed seven workers and injured nine others in the hours before Thursday's Diwali festival, officials said. Firework use hits a peak across India during the Hindu festival but New Delhi authorities have tried to restrict sales to tackle mounting pollution. The explosion late Wednesday completely destroyed the makeshift structure after fire touched off the gunpowder and chemical stocks used to make the fireworks in Balasore district of Odisha state, said district magistrate Pramod Kumar Das. He told press several of the injured workers are in a critical condition after the "huge" explosion. Diwali, the festival of lights, is traditionally celebrated by lighting lamps but has metamorphosed into a grand show of fireworks, sparking pollution and controversy. Explosions often occur in the thousands of illegal backyard and underground workshops that spring up during the festive season. Last month, nine people were killed in neighbouring Jharkhand state after their workshop was gutted by fire. India's firecracker industry, worth nearly one billion dollars a year, is the second largest in the world after China. The country's Supreme Court this month temporarily banned the sale of firecrackers in New Delhi because of the air pollution threat. The ruling came after the capital last year suffered its worst air pollution in nearly two decades, which experts blamed on Diwali fireworks and stubble-burning in farming regions around the city. Police have arrested more than two dozen people in New Delhi over the illegal sale of firecrackers since the October 9 court order and have seized more than one tonne of firecrackers. ***prbxselfnetwork***

In Tunisian,a couple is jailed for public indecency over car kiss

A Frenchman and a Tunisian woman were convicted on Wednesday on appeal in Tunis for "public indecency" after an altercation with police who arrested the couple while they were hugging in a car. A Frenchman and a Tunisian woman were convicted on Wednesday on appeal in Tunis for "public indecency" after an altercation with police who arrested the couple while they were hugging in a car. The couple, who maintain that they were not kissing, were given a lighter sentence than the original term handed out at their October 4 trial, after widespread outrage on social media and in the press over the incident. The man was handed four months in prison for "public indecency" and "refusing to obey the police", with the woman given a two month sentence on the first charge only. "It's an independent decision," a spokesman for the public prosecutors office, Sofiene Sliti told press. "What has been reported nationally and internationally is wrong -- they weren't arrested for a kiss, the couple was naked," he added. At the hearing Wednesday, the woman collapsed into tears when the court president read a police description saying a sexual act was in process when the couple were stopped on October 1 in a suburb of Tunis. The woman said that her friend had simply taken her into his arms when the plainclothes police stopped them and made them get out of the car. The Frenchman confirmed to the judge that he had tried to film the police to make a complaint about their behaviour. A dozen defence lawyers had been arguing for an acquittal for the couple. The majority of the lawyers were working for free on the case, which has triggered an uproar in Tunisia over morality campaigns and police behaviour. The defence pointed to numerous flaws in the case, including hearings in Arabic which the Frenchman, who is of Algerian origin, did not understand. "It is normal that he reacts badly when his fundamental rights were being violated," said lawyer Ghazi Mrabet, whose client is accused of intimidating police. He pointed to what he said was "bad faith" on the part of the police, who he said were looking for revenge after being implicated over their handling of the case. "This case highlights key problems with the judicial system and the police. Abuse of powers... lack of respect for citizens and their rights, attacks on individual liberty," said former deputy Nadia Chaabane, who is a member of a group to support the couple. "The problem is that we have judges now who accept all these breaches and procedural problems," she said before the judgement. ***prbxselfnetwork***.

Labour newcomer, jacinda arden set to become prime minister in new zealand

New Zealand's centre-left opposition leader Jacinda Ardern was poised to become prime minister Thursday in a stunning rise to power, after maverick populist Winston Peters backed the charismatic 37-year-old to form a government. Peters' decision, which came after a September 23 election ended deadlocked, gives her Labour Party the numbers to form a coalition government with Peters' New Zealand First and the Greens. "We had a choice to make for a modified status quo or for change... that's why in the end we chose a coalition government of New Zealand First with the New Zealand Labour Party," Peters told reporters. The 72-year-old "kingmaker" was full of praise for Ardern, who revived Labour's fortunes when she became party leader just weeks out from the election. "She exhibited extraordinary talent in the campaign itself from a very hopeless position," he said. While Labour and the Greens have to formally approve the coalition, Ardern will become New Zealand's youngest leader since 1856 and only the third female prime minister of the nation of 4.6 million. The result will be a bitter blow to outgoing conservative Prime Minister Bill English, who ran an unexpectedly strong campaign to win 44.4 percent of the vote, far higher than Labour's 36 percent. It is the first time since New Zealand adopted proportional voting in 1996 that the party which claimed the largest slice of the vote has failed to form government. Peters had promised to reveal his choice on Thursday afternoon but had already missed several self-imposed deadlines to settle the issue. He stretched the announcement out as long as possible, appearing before reporters early in the afternoon to say he still had not made a decision. "It's seriously difficult because there are pros and cons for every part of this decision we've got to make," he said before heading off for lunch. He said the talks went down to the wire, with new information arriving throughout the day, finally addressing a media conference at 7:00pm (0600GMT). ***prbxselfnetwork***

Magic leap adds another $502 million to its war chest

Magic Leap has not yet launched nor publicly revealed a product, and investors and others who have seen prototypes are required to sign NDAs. Florida-based startup Magic Leap announced on Tuesday that it had raised $502 million in a round of funding led by Singapore's Temasek. The $502 million in capital is in addition to $1.4 billion the company already raised in previous funding rounds from some of Silicon Valley's most prestigious investors, including Google. The company's series D includes two other new investors, Grupo Globo from Brazil, and Janus Henderson Investors, according to the announcement. Existing investors including Google, Alibaba, Fidelity, JP Morgan, and T. Rowe Price also chipped into the Series D. Its current valuation could not be immediately learned. An incorporation document filed in Delaware suggested that the Series D shares could be valued at $27 per share. Magic Leap was previously valued at $4.5 billion. The startup is building a pair of smart glasses that will use advanced computers and cameras to integrate graphics into the real world. It's the most richly valued private company developing augmented reality, a hot technology that's been promoted by companies like Apple, Google, and Facebook. Magic Leap has not yet launched nor publicly revealed a product, although it's expected to launch a software development kit for its glasses by the end of the year, potentially in December. Several notable technology figures and celebrities have tried Magic Leap's technology, although everyone who has donned the glasses signs an NDA. Know what Magic Leap is worth now? ***prbxselfnetwork***

In malta, murder of anti-corruption blogger reveals frustrations beneath postcard image

The shocking assassination of an influential anti-corruption blogger has brought to a head the public frustration at Malta's stagnating institutions. The shocking assassination of an influential anti-corruption blogger has brought to a head the public frustration at Malta's stagnating institutions, bubbling away for years beneath the Mediterranean holiday island image. Academics, lawyers, friends of Daphne Caruana Galizia and mourners alike tell a common tale of failing confidence in the tiny country's politicians, police, business culture and justice system. Monday's fatal car bomb attack has left the country asking itself: if the most prominent critic of Malta's institutions has been silenced in such a brutal way, who now will speak up? "Who is responsible? Frankly, we all are. The whole country," said Andrew Borg Cardona, a prominent veteran lawyer who is in practice with Caruana Galizia's husband. "We've become not lawless, but the government has given the impression that you can virtually do what you like around here and get away with it," he told press. "The big fish do exactly as they please: build the buildings they want to build, launder the money they want to launder." The attack has thrown a spotlight on Malta's recent economic boom, fuelled by online gambling, offshore companies and a passports-for-investment scheme. A 4.6-percent growth rate, near-full employment and a budget in surplus helped comfortably return Labour Prime Minister Joseph Muscat to power in a June snap election -- a vote he called after Caruana Galizia made detailed allegations of corruption against his inner circle, some based on the Panama Papers data leak. Maltese at crossroads "To the outside, Malta looks like a holiday island. To people who live here, it's something we've come to live with," Matthew Demarco, 30, a designer, said of the country's practices. He was among mourners who gathered at the growing floral tributes laid to the slain journalist in the heart of the capital Valletta. Professor Andrew Azzopardi, dean of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing at the University of Malta, said the killing had brought matters to a head and the country now faced a turning point. "The moral panic it has created is phenomenal. People are uncomfortable," the academic told press. "We are at a crossroads in terms of our political dialogue. It will be an opportunity or we could be messing things up further. "When you are targeting Daphne, it isn't just targeting her; it is much more than that." He described the situation as a terrible wake-up call. "The political class have let down the people by not engaging with the issues at hand. They have allowed this sense of statelessness to creep in. There is a sense that the state is not protecting us," he said. "The institutions are under threat. All of this is creating a sense of internal instability." The expert said the situation was exacerbated by the close-knit nature of Maltese society, a community of 430,000 people. "It could be that our politicians and institutions are too close to the people. We all know each other very well. They might create a sense of familiarity which might be breeding contempt," he said. Public trust 'gone, completely' Luke Frendo, 31, a lawyer and a friend of Caruana Galizia's son Matthew, said a situation where it took 24 hours to suspend a police sergeant who, on Twitter, reacted to the death by saying he was "feeling happy" and that everyone gets what they deserve, "spoke volumes". He urged Maltese citizens to take the responsibility upon themselves to fill the void left by Caruana Galizia's murder. "In the past, everyone could rely entirely on her, and that made it very easy for all of us, because everyone knew that Daphne would say and do whatever needed to be said and done," he told press. "It made us complacent. Now we need to step up." Borg Cardona said that like many southern European countries, faith in the police and the institutions had never been enormous, but in recent years, "public trust has gone, completely". He added that in years past, "something of this magnitude would shake governments and create a movement in society. I'm not entirely sure that will happen this time."***prbxselfnetwork***

China economic growth slows in Q3 but on course to beat target

China's economy slowed marginally in the third quarter but is well on course to beat the government's annual target, cementing Xi Jinping's standing as he prepares to be handed a second term in power. China's economy slowed marginally in the third quarter but is well on course to beat the government's annual target, cementing Xi Jinping's standing as he prepares to be handed a second term in power at a key Communist Party conclave. The world's number two economy expanded 6.8 percent in July-September, but while the figures release on Thursday were slightly down from the 6.9 percent of the previous two quarters it indicated stability after a years long slowdown in growth. "The national economy has maintained the momentum of stable and sound development in the first three quarters, with favourable factors accumulating for the economy to maintain medium-high rate of growth," said National Statistics Bureau spokesman Xing Zhihong. "However, we must be aware that international conditions remain complicated and volatile and the national economy is still at a crucial stage of restructuring with the foundation for sound development yet to be consolidated." While well off the breakneck rates of a decade ago, the reading was in line with a survey of analysts by press and put the economy well on course to eclipse the official target of about 6.5 percent for the whole year. The economy grew 6.7 percent last year, which was its slowest pace for more than a quarter of a century. Key reforms The readings come as Xi is set to secure another five-year term as the party's general secretary at the highlighly choreographed week-long congress, which he is expected to use to surround himself with loyalists at key leadership posts. And analysts say he now has a chance to push through key reforms. "Relatively strong economic performance this year offers a good opportunity for the government to address several long-term economic issues," Raymond Yeung, chief Greater China economist at Australia & New Zealand Banking Group in Hong Kong, wrote in a recent report. "Xi also needs to shift China’s economy from a credit-intensive, property-led growth model to one that supports sustainable growth," he said, according to Bloomberg News. Beijing has for years been trying to transition the economy from one reliant on exports and state investment to domestic consumption. And Thursday's figures suggest their work is paying off. Brisk consumer spending and strong factory output fuelled economic growth in July-September, while retail sales rose 10.4 percent on-year during the first three quarters. "Consumption is the stabilising factor of the economy, and industrial output actually quickened in September," Grace Ng, an economist at JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Hong Kong, said. The services industry contributed the majority of China's economic growth, according to the Statistics Bureau, and in line with sentiment expressed on Wednesday by Xi. "China's economy has been transitioning from a phase of rapid growth to a stage of high-quality development," Xi told an audience of 2,300 party leaders when he opened the congress on Wednesday. Debt worries He emphasised this point by leaving out new growth targets from his speech. His predecessor Hu Jintao made doubling the country's GDP by 2020 a key point of his opening remarks at party gathering in 2012 and in 2007 pledged to double per capita income. Less pressure for high growth could roll back the policy stimulus that has caused China's debt to spiral to levels that have led to two sovereign rating downgrades and warnings of a financial crisis. The soaring debt is most concentrated in China's state-owned enterprises, which have continued overbuilding and overproducing for example with a glut of steel. The latest figures showed some progress on that front, with the debt to asset ratio, one measure of leverage, at China's largest industrial enterprises ticking downwards slightly from last year. The NSB's Xing said China had continued "the work of cutting overcapacity, reducing excess inventory, deleveraging". But Xi made it clear market forces would not be used to constrain the state-owned companies' ambitions or decisions. "We will support state assets in becoming stronger, doing better, and growing bigger," he said in his speech, a nod that China's massive state-owned enterprises would continue to hold sway in the economy for years to come. ***prbxselfnetwork***

Security flaws in child smartwatches mean hackers can use them to spy on kids's location

The devices could be hijacked and used to eavesdrop on children — or even send them messages, researchers found. Researchers have found major security flaws in childrens' smartwatches that could let hackers hijack them. In some cases, they could be used to track kids' locations, eavesdrop on them, or send them messages. At least one retailer has since pulled some of the devices off its shelves. Security flaws in a number of smartwatches aimed at children means hackers and strangers could hijack them and use them to track and eavesdrop on kids. The various issues were discovered by security firm Mnemonic, working with the Norweigan Consumer Council, after it analysed the Gator, Tinitell, Viksfjord/SeTracker, and Xplora smartwatches. The devices are marketed as a way for parents to keep tabs on and communicate with their children via apps — but some have very serious security flaws, and fall short of various standards. "Three of the four watches that were tested were found to contain significant security flaws," Mnemonic wrote in its report. "The flaws are not technically difficult to exploit, and in two cases, allow a third party to surreptitiously take control over the watch." The Gator 2, Viksfjord/SeTracker, and Xplora devices were all found to have "multiple serious and practical attacks." In the Gator 2, for example, this includes hijacking the device, allowing the attacker to track its current location (and hence, the location of its child wearer), location history, the ability to send voice messages to the watch, and editing contact phone numbers it stores. The Viksfjord/SeTracker, meanwhile, can be turned into a "remotely controllable listening device," or give an attacker the ability to communicate directly with the child. And the researchers were able to access sensitive data from other Xplora customers, including locations, names, and phone numbers — suggesting it is not being stored properly. Meanwhile, none of the four devices give users the option to delete their accounts or have location data delete automatically after a set period of time. Only the Tinitell promises to implement reasonable security standards, Mnemonic said. John Lewis, the British high street retailer, has since stopped selling a Gator kids' smartwatch, telling The Telegraph: "As a precautionary measure we have withdrawn from sale all Gator smartwatch products while we await further advice and reassurance from the supplier." ***prbxselfnetwork***

Spain::decision day for catalonia's separalist leader

Catalonia's separatist leader Carles Puigdemont must abandon his bid for independence from Spain on Thursday or face an unprecedented move by Madrid to seek a suspension of his region's autonomy. Catalonia's separatist leader Carles Puigdemont must abandon his bid for independence from Spain on Thursday or face an unprecedented move by Madrid to seek a suspension of his region's autonomy. Puigdemont, who sparked Spain's worst political crisis in decades by holding a banned independence referendum on October 1, has been ordered by Madrid to say by 10:00 am (0800 GMT) whether or not he is unilaterally declaring a split from Spain. The government of Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy says it will trigger Article 155 of Spain's constitution -- a measure that would allow it to start imposing direct rule over semi-autonomous Catalonia -- unless Puigdemont backs down. Catalonia is deeply divided over whether to break away from Spain as Puigdemont has repeatedly threatened since the referendum, but the wealthy northeastern region is proud of its autonomy in one of the Western world's most decentralised nations. There are fears that moving to impose direct rule could further aggravate a crisis that has worried investors and added to the woes of a European Union already grappling with Brexit. A top official in Puigdemont's PDeCat party, Marta Pascal, told reporters that if Madrid triggers Article 155, then party members would ask him to declare independence outright. But Madrid appeared to offer the separatists a potential last-minute way out in the form of fresh regional elections. Polls sanctioned by Madrid -- unlike the referendum, which the Constitutional Court ruled illegal -- would allow Catalan voters to have a say on how to move forward. A government source told press that elections could be considered "a return to legality" by Puigdemont, while opposition leader Pedro Sanchez said Madrid would "without a doubt" back off from triggering Article 155. A Catalan government source said Wednesday that elections were "not one of our priorities" but did not rule them out. "We are not going to react to non-official declarations from the government," the source said. "We are waiting to see what (Madrid) will decide tomorrow." Barca footballers urge dialogue Puigdemont claims the chaotic referendum resulted in a 90 percent "Yes" vote, but the turnout was only 43 percent as many supporters of Spanish unity stayed away. Spain has been in limbo since the referendum, when images of police dragging voters by their hair and throwing them down stairs shocked the world. Barcelona football club's Camp Nou stadium displayed a massive banner emblazoned with the words "Dialogue, Respect and Sport" when it reopened Wednesday for its first match since playing to empty seats in protest at the violence against voters. Puigdemont issued a cryptic "suspended" declaration of independence following the vote, saying he wanted time for talks with the government -- a prospect Madrid has rejected. "All I ask of Mr Puigdemont is that he acts with good sense," Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy told parliament Wednesday. Catalans have grown increasingly frustrated with politicians' failure to find a way out of the deadlock, while the prolonged uncertainty is taking a toll on one of Spain's most important regional economies. More than 800 companies have moved their headquarters out of Catalonia in a bid to minimise the instability, while the national government has cut its growth forecast to 2.3 percent next year, pointing blame at the crisis. Separatists argue that Catalonia, which represents about a fifth of Spain's economic output, pours more into the national coffers than it gets back and would prosper if it went its own way. But opponents say the region has more clout as part of a bigger Spain and that the instability could be disastrous for its economy. ***prbxselfnetwork***
